A month without any major sale campaign. This month I've bought a lot of environments. At DAZ 3D the PA Ansiko's entire store was on sale unadvertised for one day - Medina - Classic Van and Props - The Streets of Morocco - The Streets Of Venice - Rodents by AM: Squirrels of Eastern Hemisphere - Smartening up the Daz Studio Database As mentioned Ansiko's store was on sale for a day. So I bought all items of the fictive arabic town 'Medina'. Now I had the chance I added Classic Van and Props and some other nice things too. Stonemason had a flash sale in his store for a few hours, this time with a better discount than many times before. So I bought a pair of his excellent 'Streets of' environments. Alessandro_AM has so many great animals in the store. So I had to have the rodent base figure and the Squirrel add-on. At last but not least, I need to Smartening up the Daz Studio Database, hopfully this tutorial can help me doing so.

Iray FireWorx is a set of explosion elements like fire, smoke and embers, that can be combined to create some impresive effects. I just had to have this one. I bought the Cobwebs and ragged clothes for some future spooky / horror renders.

February was a month with out any major sale - Legends of War: Trebuchet - v176 Roof Tiles Iray Textures - 15 Floor Board Iray Shaders - Merchant Resource - dForce - Queen of Hearts G8F - Epic: dForce - Queen of Hearts G8F - DA Davinia: Queen of Hearts G8F A trebuchet is my favorite medieval siegeweapon. The Queen of Hearts items was simple to adorable to miss. For some time they have been on sale as a bundle. But I was lucky to get them individually at a much better price. With some roof tile shaders and some wall shaders, I can change the look of a building enough to put two idientical buildings next to each other, and have them look different. Justy a little glossery: A shader can be applied to any surface, a material can only be applied to a specific surface. A merchant resource can be used by a seller as a part of his/her own products.

In January I've only placed one order. Most of what I bought was texture packs for clothing sets that I own. But there is still a few a few items that are worth highlighting. - Addison Hair and Brows G3F G8F - Pascale Hair G3F G8F - Retro Vehicle Bundle From the Addison Hair and Brows product I like the brows I plan to use the brows for some kind of elves or a nutty professor. I've bought Pascale Hair G3F G8F because most hairs are straight, maybe with lots of volume. Only a few long curled hairs are available, so I had to buy this one. Retro Vehicle Bundle contains 3 somewhat recent cars, that you can still find on the road today. I bougt this bundle because the cars are for the average people, but also for the used textures.

PC+ Sale has ended. As so often before I spended much more than I should. This month I didn't really bought that much new with a great WOW-effect. - Aguja Mermaid G8F Plus Mertail and Fins - Alascanus Merman G8M plus Mertail and Fins - Blenworth - Lumino Wings for G3F G8F Alascanus the merman was released during the PC+ Sale. Now he can swim side by side with Aguja the mermaid. Blenworth is an old set. but it looks good as an old mansion for a wealthy family. Lumino Wings Is a very useful set of wings for fairies and cosplayers.

The site is a few weeks from it's 2 year anniversary, not because I plan to do much about that, but like in many other cases development adds a little to the database here and a little there, and eventually it needs an overhaul to remove redundancy and useless posts and columns. Changing this much to the database will inevitably result in a lot of tweaking on most pages as well. You can rarely alter the foundation without affecting what's build on it.

The DAZ PC+ anniversary Sale is on its fourth week as this is uploaded. To me this sale hasn't been as excited as I remember the PC+ sales to be. I think there are several reasons for this. First of all I've been shopping at Daz more than two years. Because of this I have a huge library of models for the Genesis 3 characters I haven't use in a render so far. Also I've become more picky about at what discount and price I'm willing to buy. None the less I've bought some cool models worth highlighting. All of Ironman13's products has been bought by Daz. 31st of October they had a great offer. Buy a new Item and all ironman13 products will be reduced to 2.99 USD each - Classic Long Hair with dForce G8F - Line Render9000 - The Grand Staircase - Cartoonized - dForce Seven Seas Outfit G8F - Pay Phones - Kara Dress G3F Classic Long Hair uses the dForce cloth simulation engine to pose the hair. I've tested it. It's an amazing product. Line Render9000 Is a cool plug-in to create 2D cartoon styled images or colour book images. The Grand Staircase is clearly inspired by the R.M.S. Titanic. It's an old model from long before IRay, so the Quality of the materials may be a bit low. Cartoonized is a morph pack to give your favourite characters a cartoonized look. Most noticeable may be the over sized heads. I think it can be a great combo with Line Render9000. There has also been released a male version of cartoonized. I have to get that one too. dForce Seven Seas Outfit G8F, what can I say. More pirates to the people, even if it's a fantasy outfit. In a not so distant past Pay Phones was a common sight in the city. A nice detail to city renders. Kara Dress G3F this is a nice little summer dress. Just to remind me that there will come another summer soon.

September is over And it was one of my must expensive months. There are two main reasons for that. First it was the annual Premier Artist sale at Daz3D. This sale had a lot of good offers, just like the previous years. The PA sale 2018 is over when you read this, but it's followed by the PC+ sale. I hope I'll be better at holding on to my credit cart. The second reason for the expensive month is that Filter Forge was on sale at 75% off. Enough talking. But I'll give a few words about a few of them. Out of Touch makes so many beautiful gowns. All new outfits from OOT are for genesis 8 characters. Ironman13 has created so many environments with matching outfits, and the steakhous is just one of them. Exnem has created a lot of food related items, the Cake and pies that I've listed is a product with some years behind it. That means it's made for poser, but works fine in Daz3D Studio.

My database tells my that I have 923 items in my 3D library that I've put into one of these categories: Characters, clothing, hair, anatomical elements, vehicles, environments, accessories, props and 'Animals and Creatures'. Or to list it the other way. I've excluded all items from: scripts, software, add-ons, textures, shaders, morphs, poses, aniblocks and tutorials. Now I've given my self the mission to create at least one good render with each of the 923 items. So far I've used 272 different items. So now I've only has 651 items left to use. Considering my shopping and render rates... [Mission Impossible theme plays in the background]

Daz3D studio has previously had an option to buy a 3D printed copy of some models. Before I started with 3D that option was cancelled for reasons I don't know. Then late October 2017 a plug-in was released that allowed you to upload your model to GamePrint. They print your model on a high quality industy 3D printer, paint it and ship it to you. Awesome. I just had to get one. Of cause there are centain things GamePrint wouldn't print. That is things like actual weapons, sexual positions, violence, hate and such. In many ways the usual stuff. OK. My model has to be one that I can have on a shelf a let anybody see it. I wanted the model to be a beautiful female. She must be posed in an open and welcoming way. And she would be used as a mascot for my gallery. After a lot of consideration I decided to go for a angel with long hair and standing on a rock as the base. Because the service was new, there was 10% discount and free shipping. So I paid 225 USD for a 7 inch (17,7 cm) model. Yes. 225 USD is a significant amount of money. But It's definetly worth it. The model is printed in such a resolution, that you can't see each layer of material. And the paint job is also very well done and it is 'only' a standard model. 3 months later my mailman brought me a huge box. I was very excited to see the result. Remember I ordered within a few months after release. So I didn't knew what to expect. Inside the box, there was another box with the GamePrint logo and the inside of this box was padded with foam and some white feathery fluff. The model came in two pieces. The angel and the base. With a pin under one foot and a magnet under the other, the model snapped to the base with ease. The buttom of the base is slightly convex. I don't know if it is deliberately. But it's so much easier to rotate the model and enjoy it from all angles. Will I order another 3D print. Oh yes. Definetly.

Where til Annual PC+ Sale Starts. For this month I'll highlight the following items. - Fluidos - Skinchangers Male - Skinchangers Female - Darby - Alyas Bath Fluidos is an exciting new plug-in that simulates fluid dynamics. It is a bit complicated to get started. But the creator has included some great video tutorials. I've tested it a few times with great results. The skinchanger products. Changes your Genesis 3 Characters to some fured beasts. Darby and Alyas Bath has been on my wishlist at Renderosity for a long time. Darby is a new female character for G3F and Alyas Bath is a bath house interior with a arabic or persian touch.

There wasn't much shopping this month. In fact July was the 2nd cheapest month in all of my 3D history. I'v placed 2 orders this month and none of them are packed with super exciting models. Most of it was shaders or texture add-ons - Aslan Court 3 and the Iray Add-on - Classic Roll Hair G3F - Georgie Hair and Brows G3M and G8M I'm comming to a point were It's harder for me to find new models that gives me that I must have feeling.

Three months ago I wrote about my first attempts in 3D modeling. Now I've made my first prop for one of my renders. During the process I know I made a lot of mistakes and things that could've been done better, simpler and faster. But that's the process of learning. With a sucess comes the enthusiasm for more. Now the road is clear to make something better next time. I've several other props in the pipeline. At some point in the future my props maybe be downloadable as a freebee.

The Royal Pavillion is a modular set and very useful on it's own. The pavillion can be placed almost anywhere as a vantage point with a great view of the mountains or ocean. Derived from it's name it can be placed in a Palace Park. The scene has a ancient Greek look to it. But it can be used in any historical scene from the ancient up to modern times.

I've Previously bought two set of aniblocks with walking animations. I must admit that Idon't really like any of them. Image a female speed walking with 1 meter per step in high heels and catwalk style where each foot crosses over to the opposite side of the other foot. So I'm trying to create one by myself. That is not as simple as it may sound. Even If there only are 7 joints to animate. Timing is everything. Come on how hard can it be. It's just one leg in front of the other over and over again. Well. No. Try and think about it. When a woman walks down the street, men loves to see her hips swing from side to side. Cool. But how does that swing follow her legs. Then you can move on to the knees and ankles. When all the joint movements are figured out, there is one last ting, that can ruin the walk. The ground. The foot on the ground must stay on the spot till it's lifted. That is it can't slide back and forth like there's no friction. And it can't move up and down like there's no ground or gravity. How hard can it be.

Now that I've been shopping 3D models for some years, I have most of what i find interesting. Now it's time to test the models Ive bought more thoroughly, And maybe write a review about some of them. And last but not least. Try to remember why I bought it in the first place and get that render done. When I buy a new 3D model of any kind. I usually just do a quick test to be sure that it is correct installed. After that I enter it to my database. And then I often forget about it and the render I wanted to do. When I write my reviews I test the product more thoroughly than I otherwise would have done. This reveals to me what I like about it and what I don't like. I have so far only found one product that in my mind fail to be what I thought it would be.

Daz celebrated the one year anniversary of Victoria 8 and Genesis 8 with 70% discount on a selection of Genesis 3 female models. I almost got my wishlist cleared for G3F items. - Samira Outfit G3F - Egyptian Outfit G3F - Sugar Skulls: Accessories - Yulia's Finery G3F Two egyptian outfits but no where to put them for a render. I better get on with that 3D moddelling. I also got a chrismas oufit, because there is less than 6 months to christmas. Hurray.

This dress was one of the first dresses to be released as a dForce optimized outfit. It's a beautiful long dress suitable for proms, weddings and when invited to a dance at the royal palace. The dress is form hugging and enhances all the feminie curves of the wearer. It attracts the attention from everybody nearby. Of cause from all males but also from females. The dresst lets her look, act and live like a princess for a night. What girl doesn't dream about that.

Often clothing and hair have a number PBMs (Partial Body Morphs) so they fit the figure they are loaded to fit. AutoFollow can often do the rest. If not, then you can add a smoothing Modifier or increase the iterations. Even so there can still be areas where the clothes poke through the body. There are products available that adds more adjustment morphs to the clothes. Sometimes it's good, somteimes it's not and makes it worse somewhere else. With Female curves and all kinds of straps it often happens that straps follow the skin around the chest where it should be thight in a straight line. A solution to this is D-formers. It takes some time and some fiddling. But eventually you can get a much better result than with morphs alone.

Review: Attention Please Outfit G3F

This is an outfit I like. Even though I haven't yet used it in any published render. The outfit is an interpretation of a uniform for a flight attendant. Not only does this outfit include a dress and a pair of shoes. Which in itself could be enough to be an outfit. But this also includes a blazer, a bracelet, ar brooch, a pair of rigged earrings an earphone or a bluetooth headset for a phone, a nice litte hat and a gun. A flight attendant with a gun? Yes! Of course. You never know when your flight attendant has to fight terrorists.

I've never had interest in rendering sci-fi images. But I've bought a lot of bundles over time. And some of the bundles came with a sci-fi outfit or sci-fi related props. I enjoy watching videos about scienmce anastonomy on youtube. So I thought why not do a sci-fi render, now that I had what I need. Or so i thought. I turns out that most of my sci-fi models wasn't that sci-fi afterall. I began on a sci-fi render. And it ended with a challenge do a Sci-Fi render and keep the project as much Sci-Fi as I could. The render is finished and uploaded to the gallery. Maybe I'll do another one soon.

Long time ago I bought Slime attack vol. 1. Back then I had no plan with the slime. So I downloaded and installed it. Now some 6 months later I had an idea for a messy render. My first tests was a disappointment. From the promo images I was sure the slime loaded to the character as clothing that follows the movements of the character. instead it loads as props that are parented the hips. So if I move the arm, the hand slime stays in mid air. OK to be fair it's written on the store page that it is 28 props. But still I find it disappointing.

May was an ordinary month. No huge sale campains, but still some good offers. - Elven G3F - The Dirndl 2015 G3F - The Legend G3F and G8F - Greek Island Overlook - Review I have some cool ideas for the highlighted models. Some day I'll use "The Legend" for a 3D printed model. Maybe together wit one of the orc I've highlighted earlier. "Elven" is also obvious to use in combinations with orcs. "Greek Island Can be used for almost all kinds of modern renders. At renderosity I bought "The Dirndl 2015 G3F" as the name suggests it isn't brand new. But it will be perfect for a german octoberfest.

I've started to practice 3D modelling. So soon I hope I'll be able to add my own models to my renders. I've tried with free tutorials and tips I found online, but that was like walking in circles, because all of them covered the first steps and that was it. Or it was so old it was useless. Or the creater of the tutorial stopped way before intented. Instead I've bougt a training course for free software from Renderosity It's a bit repeating too, but unless you know how to work with all 5 programs used in the video series you'll still get value for your money. One thing is the modelling and I think I'm getting a grip on it. Another thing is UV-mapping and creating materials. UV-mapping is needed so any .obj compatible software knows what part of an image to put on each surface of the model. All the tutorials I've tried models something simple like a chair or a simple huse. That's fine. But I'm more entusiastic when I model one of my own ideas. I have plenty of cool, complex and awesome ideas to model. But I have to keep it somewhat simple, so It is a challenge to complete. But still something I can complete without running into walls all the time.

If there is one thing that has a huge effect on any render, then it must be light. Just take a look at these two renders "Sunny" and "Cloudy". The difference between those two are just one simple and powerful light source that mimics the Sun. As effective a lot of light is, just as effective can it be with as little light as possible. Like "Drink up me heartie yo ho!" In short. Wherever there is light, ther must be shadow. The shadow may be subtle and hard to see. Light can be the difference between a good and a bad render.

Long hair in a 3D environment without a physics engine has always been a challenge and Daz 3D Studio is no exception. It is hard work to make it look natural and not like something that defies gravity.

Geneva hair is a long rigged ponytail divided into three tails that can be shaped and posed individually. It comes with 15 different hair colors. 6 in natural colors and 9 hair colors that are mixed or cartoonish. The versatility af this hair makes i one of my absolute 3D hair favorites.
